Good news for locals who enjoy riding around Waikawa Beach.
Back in June 2022 a local resident asked the Horowhenua District Council if we could have bike stands at the Manga Pirau Street and north Reay Mackay Grove beach entrances. Recently those stands were installed.
They’re not the same kind of stand as the one at the footbridge, but instead are the simpler kind you can lean your bike against and easily lock to.

Now, if only we could do something about the wretched speed bumps on Strathnaver Drive! Motorcycles and quad bikes just go around them but the uneven surface is tricky for cyclists.
