The toilet block is clearly very close to completion. New this week: a Solatube style light on the Reserve side of the building; outdoor showers, drinking fountain and dog water bowl, concrete ramp, rubbish bin by the BBQ area, all the planter boxes in place, gutters and downpipes, lights outside. There are also a couple of black plastic ‘covers’ in the grass beside the block, on the Reserve side.
Almost 70 mm rain between Thursday and Saturday though created a puddle the length of the building beside the concrete ramp. I’ve asked Stephan Titze, Parks and Property Project Lead | Kaihautū Kaupapa Papa Rēhia, Rawa if something will be done about that. He responded:
I believe the black items marked are some sort of vents. We established at this location [on the Reserve] a new storm water soak pit as in previous time the water was running straight to the river.
The construction of this soak pit is most likely also responsible for the puddle … The rain water should run off towards south into the drain and I believe the drain has been blocked for the construction of the soak pit. I will follow up on this next week.
Stephan also said:
We are looking forward to a construction finish by end of next week. Critical last step is the installation of the water filter which I hope we will have sorted next week.
However based on several request from the community I have been looking into a public BBQ / opening event around the 15th December [2022].
