A press release from Horowhenua District Council says: Kerbside Glass Recycling to recommence:
Kerbside glass recycling will recommence on Monday 13 June [2022].
There will be no changes to the kerbside collection days or process for residents when kerbside glass collections resume. Glass will be collected from Council-approved recycling crates, one crate per household.
Glass from overflowing crates will not be collected due to safety risks to our contractors and community, should any glass fall from overflowing crates.
Any excess glass can be stored at home until the following collection date, deposited at our community glass bottle drop-off event, or at one of our static recycling stations.
They also say:
To thank our community for their patience while the glass kerbside collection was temporarily suspended, and to provide an opportunity to reduce the stockpile, Horowhenua District Council will be hosting a glass bottle drop-off and sausage sizzle on Saturday 11 June from 9am to 1pm at the all-day carpark on the corner of Bath and Salisbury Streets, Levin.
People can bring clean glass recycling which would normally have been collected kerbside to clear their backlog. At the drop-off event, glass will need to be sorted by colour, similar to our static recycling stations. We encourage people to sort their glass recycling by colour in advance, as there will be three separate skip bins available for glass; green, brown and clear glass.
